Foreign Direct Investment in EP & IS Countries: Evidence From Southeast and South Asia 2000-2014

  • This research objective is to analyze the impact of FDI on economic growth in Southeast Asia and South Asia that follow export promotion and import substitution trade strategies. This study uses yearly panel data from 2000 until 2014 using Fixed-Effect Method. Control variables used in this study are growth rate of gross fixed of capital formation, growth rate of exports, growth rate of labor force participation. The result from this study indicates that FDI has a significant impact on economic growth in countries with export promotion strategy. While the impact of FDI on economic growth for countries that follow import substitution strategy is not significant.
