Item Efficacy of Combination Additional Iron-Folate Tablet and Liver Supplements of Sidat Eel Fish in Hemoglobin Concentrate for Female Anemia Midwifery STIKES Karsa Husada Garut.(2017-10-16) HAJI SAMKANI; Dewi Marhaeni Diah Herawati; Dida Akhmad GurnidaAnemia Defisiensi Besi (ADB) or Iron Deficiency Anemia is still high in teenagers group of female. Providing iron-folate and vitamin A supplements has been shown to be more effective to improve status of iron. Indonesian eel (Anguilla Bicolor) powder contains high of nutrients, especially in vitamin A which can used as subtance of nutraceutical and help iron metabolism. The purpose of this research was making nutraceutical formulation from eel fish powder and for discovering the efficacy of the combination iron-folate and supplement of sidat to hemoglobin concentration in anemic midwifery student STIKES Karsa Husada Garut. Design of this study was experimentally research through two stages which were formulation and intervention phase. The formulation stage is done by proximate and contamination test on head fluor, liver and bone meal. The second stage was intervention with Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) research design on 37 anemic subjects taken by simple random sampling. The combination iron-folate tablets (60 mg Fe, 400 mcg of folat acid) and sidat supplements (2 capsules) were given to the group of treatment, and control group only received iron-folate (60 mg Fe, 400 mcg of acid folat) for 30 days. The Results based on proximate analysis showed that the liver flour contains vitamin A 11.818,10 mcg/100 g and iron 34.236 mg/100 g, fish head flour contains vitamin A 761.58 mcg/100 and iron 30.001 mg/100 g, and bone meal vitamin A 485 mcg/100 g and iron 47.918 mg/100 g. Formulation of liver supplements 1 gram dose of administration containing 118.181 mcg and iron 0.342 mg. Statistical analysis (Mann-Whitney) showed no significant difference in hemoglobin concentration (Hb) between two groups (p> 0.315), the increasing average of Hb concentration in treatment group (9.63 ± 6.72 g / L) was higher than control (7.56 ± 7.15 g / L). The decrease of prevalence in anemia treatment group was higher (52.6%) than control group (33.3%), Chi-Square test result there was difference between both groups of alteration anemia status (p = 0.236). The combination of iron-folate tablet and supplements of eel had the same efficacy as iron-folate tablet in increasing the concentration of hemoglobin for anemic female students.
