Hal ini sangat dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan helm, baik helm terbuka maupun tertutup. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif, dilakukan di Bagian Bedah Mulut dan Maksilofasial RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung dan bertujuan untuk mengetahui informasi mengenai fraktur maksilofasial akibat kecelakaan lalu lintas pada pengendara sepeda motor yang menggunakan helm. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa selama periode Januari 2009 – November 2011 tercatat 116 pasien dari 759 kasus fraktur (15,28%). Fraktur akibat kecelakaan sepeda motor banyak terjadi pada laki-laki (80,17%) daripada perempuan (19,83%). Berdasarkan jenis helm, fraktur maksilofasial akibat kecelakaan sepeda motor banyak terjadi pada pengguna jenis helm half face (86,33%) lebih besar dari pengguna helm full face (13,67%). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa fraktur maksilofasial akibat kecelakaan sepeda motor tercatat 116 kasus. Jenis frantur maksilofasial yang paling sering terjadi adalah fraktur dentoalveolar. Fraktur maksilofasial akibat kecelakaan sepeda motor lebih banyak terjadi pada laki-laki. The fractures is strongly influenced by the use of helmets, either half face or full face helmets. The research was design as a descriptive study and conducted in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. The objective itself is to obtain information about the fractures occurred to motorcyclist using helmets. Within the period of January 2009 – November 2011, the study result recorded amount of 116 out of 759 fracture cases (15,28%). Based on its occurrence 80,17% happened to male, and 19,83% happened to female motorcyclist. The study also recorded that based on type of helmets, the occurred of accident those using half face type 86,33% and 13,67% in those using full face type. The study concluded that maxillofacial fracture in motorcycle accidents recorded 116 fracture cases.
