Khusus di bidang farmasi, ada empat sifat fungsional yang penting dari Na-CMC yaitu untuk stabilisator, pembentuk gel dan pengental, pengisi, dan sebagai pengemulsi. Didalam sistem emulsi hidrokoloid, Na-CMC tidak berfungsi sebagai pengemulsi tetapi lebih sebagai senyawa yang memberikan kestabilan. oleh karena itu, analisis Na-CMC yang telah disintesis dari selulosa harus dilakukan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tahapan isolasi α- selulosa, sintesis Na CMC, dan analisis Na CMC yang telah dihasilkan. Hasil karakterisasi Na-CMC menunjukkan bahwa produk memenuhi persyaratan sebagai eksipien sediaan farmasi, yang meliputi parameter organoleptis, kelarutan, foam test, pembentukan endapan, dan reaksi warna yang sama dengan Na-CMC baku. Na-CMC is a derivative of cellulose and is often used in the pharmaceutical and food industries, or used in foodstuffs to prevent retrogradation. Specialized in the pharmaceutical field, there are four important functional properties of Na-CMC is to stabilizers, gelling agent and thickener, filler, and as an emulsifier. Hydrocolloid in the emulsion system, Na-CMC does not function as emulsifiers but rather as compounds that provide stability. therefore, the analysis of Na-CMC which has been synthesized from cellulose to be done. The study was conducted with the stage of isolation of α-cellulose, the synthesis of Na-CMC, and analysis tof Na-CMC hat has been generated.
