If untreated, malaria can lead to severe complications and even death. The treatment of malaria includes various antimalarial medications, such as Artemisinin-based Combination Therapies (ACT) and primaquine. The treatment using both medications have been proven effective after being administered to the patients of malaria in West Java. However, there are several obstacles in the management of malaria in West Java such as budget and geographical factors. Therefore, this study aims to describe the pattern of malaria treatment in West Java from 2019 to 2022 and to determine the suitability of malaria treatment in West Java according to the guideline of malaria treatment in Indonesia from 2019 to 2022. Methods: This research was conducted from October 2022 to May 2023 with a descriptive cross-sectional study. The secondary data used in this research is the data of malaria patients treatment in the regions of West Java Province from 2019 to 2022 which gathered from the e- SISMAL application using the total sampling method. Results: The results show there were 1,265 confirmed cases of malaria from 2019 to 2022, with a higher susceptibility among men (94.7%) compared to women (5.2%). The majority of these cases were found in individuals over the age of 15. The most commonly identified type of Plasmodium was Plasmodium vivax, which is found in 72.7% of malaria cases. A total of 61.9% of malaria examinations are using a microscope, followed by Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) with 37.7%. According to the guidelines, a total of 90.6% of malaria cases were treated with Dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine (DHP), followed by primaquine with 74.5%. Conclusion: Most of the medications and the prescribed doses for malaria patients are in accordance with the recommendations from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2019. However, a small number of malaria medications and prescribed doses are considered unsuitable for treatment due to insufficiency or overtreatment.malariaPlasmodiume-SISMALMalaria Treatment in West Java 2019 - 2022 : A Descriptive Study
