The main principle of treatment of pregnant women with the disease is to consider whether appropriate treatment if the woman is not in a state of pregnancy . Usually there are a variety of options , and for this reason the second principle is to evaluate the safety of drugs for the mother and fetus . Antimicrobials are drugs used to combat microbial infections in humans . Medium antibiotics are chemical compounds produced by microorganisms ( particularly produced by fungi ) or produced synthetically that can kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria and other organisms . Infection is a major cause of premature death in infants .. Pregnancy will affect the selection of antibiotics . Penicillins and cephalosporins are generally regarded as the first choice in pregnancy preparations , because the provision most other antibiotics associated with increased risk of malformations in the fetus .
