HASAN SADIKIN BANDUNG PERIODE AGUSTUS 2021 2022(2023-02-20) TASYA AULIA; Rini Rossanti; Ahmedz WidiastaThe incidence of hypertension in children and adolescents has gradually increased along with the prevalence of obesity. Hypertension in children can track into adulthood and cause serious health problems. Thus, early identification and intervention of children at risk of hypertension is important to improve clinical outcome and prevent complication. Anthropometric characteristics which can be interpreted as nutritional status can be used to predict high blood pressure in children. This study was aim to describe the anthropometric characteristics of hypertension in children admitted to Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung in August 2021 to August 2022. This research was conducted in 2022 using a cross-sectional study design. Data were collected from electronic medical records of inpatient and outpatient children from August 2021 to August 2022. Baseline and anthropometric characteristics data of the patients were analyzed using descriptive statistic method. A total of 139 patients were included in this study consisting of 70 males and 69 females. The most common age group affected was the adolescent group. Pediatric was characterized by stage 2 hypertension with nephrotic syndrome as the most common etiology. With regard of the nutritional status, pediatric hypertension was more prevalent in children with high nutritional status. As of the stature majority of patients had normal height . Overweight and obese nutritional status is common in children with hypertension, indicated that blood pressure measurement should be done periodically especially in children with overweight and obesity to detect hypertension.
