Item THE REPRESENTATION OF THE FRENCH PRESIDENT EMMANUEL MACRON IN THE CONNEXION FRANCE AND THE MOSCOW TIMES REGARDING THE ISSUE OF OFFENDING ISLAM: A CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS(2022-03-30) YULIA ANGGRAENI; Eko Wahyu Koeshandoyo Putro; Elvi CitraresmanaThis study aims to reveal the representation of French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the issue of offending Islam in The Connexion France and The Moscow Times. The Connexion France is an English newspaper from France, where the case took place. The Moscow Times is an English newspaper from Russia, where Samuel Paty`s beheading suspected killer came from. This study uses a Critical Discourse Analysis approach. The data of this study are four articles in The Connexion France and four articles from The Moscow Times, which were published from October 18 until November 1, 2020. The data was analyzed using the discursive strategy by Wodak & Mayel (2001). This study shows that The Connexion France shows more positive representation than the negative representation of Emmanuel Macron. In contrast, The Moscow Times shows more negative representation than positive representation. Thus, this study shows that news in different media will show different representations of social actors.
