    Characteristics of Coronary Artery Disease Patients with Hypertension in Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung Indonesia

    Objectives Data regarding which hypertension that leads to coronary artery disease (CAD) is still lacking. Therefore, this study is conducted to know the characteristics of CAD patients with hypertension in a top referral hospital in West Java that has many advanced and complex cardiology cases. Methods This retrospective study includes hypertensive patients from the CAD Registry in Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital within January – September 2022. It includes CAD patients with hypertension, defined as patients who: (1) have history of hypertension for a month; (2) are hypertensive based on measurement; and (3) are regularly taking antihypertensive medications, in cardiovascular clinic. We obtain the characteristics of the hypertension and the comorbidities as well as complications. Results From 172 patients in the registry, 124 patients (72.09%) are hypertensive. We enroll 103 of those who has complete data. Males (76.7%) are predominant. The average age is 60.8 years old. The average of hypertension duration is 8.4 years, with 27.6% patients first got hypertension at the age younger than 45 years old. Patients whose highest systolic blood pressure (SBP) reached ≥160 mmHg account 71.84%. Latest blood pressure measurement shows 42 (40.8%) patients still have high blood pressure. The prevalence of dyslipidemia, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) are 26.2%, 5.8%, and 24.3%, respectively. We found 82.5%, 1.94%, 10.7%, and 14.56% patients have LVH, CKD, stroke, and chronic heart failure (CHF), respectively. Conclusion In CAD patients with hypertension in our hospital, most patients have hypertension for quite long. Many of them were diagnosed with hypertension at a young age. Almost all patients have LVH and there are plenty patients who already have stroke.
