The Study of Oral Health Related to Quality of Life Among Elderly (Literature Review)

Abstract

The oral health-related to quality of life is a multidimensional concept that reflects other things of one`s comfort when eating, sleeping, engaging in social interaction of self-esteem and one`s satisfaction with respect to their oral health. This goal of this research is to find out whether there is a relations between oral health and quality of life among the elderly. The method used for this research was based on secondary data such as literature, textbook and journals. There were 3 categories in measuring the oral health related to quality of life which are social indicators, global self-ratings and multiple questionnaires. There were six tools that are discussed which are WHOQoL-BREF, World Health Organization Quality of Life Instruments Biomedical Research & Education Facility, WHOQoL-OLD, Oral Health Impact Profile-49 (OHIP-49), Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14), Oral Health Impact Profile-EDENT (OHIP-EDENT), Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index(GOHAI).
