AGE ESTIMATION FROM TEETH OF DEUTERO-MALAY SUB RACE USING MODIFIED DEMIRJIANS SYSTEM THROUGH PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPH BY REGRESSION EQUATIONS PRODUCED

Abstract

Age estimation is a fundamental question in order to establish the identity of a person in forensic science. The modified Demirjian’s system is simple, easy to reproduce regression for respective population and have been tested over wide variety population. The purpose of this research was to develop an age-prediction regression equation and assess its accuracy by using Deutero-Malay sub race panoramic radiograph secondary data from Dentomaxillofacial Radiology department in the Dental and Oral Educational Hospital. The cubic regression equation models suitable for both genders are produced. From the results, the models produced standard deviation of 0.18 years for female and 0.20 for male. The regression equations are applicable for Deutero-Malay sub race age from 6-16 years old for female and male.
