Abstract
Background: The Indonesian government has shifted teaching and learning activities to online to prevent COVID-19 transmission. Still, clinical skills practice in hospitals is compulsory for medical students. They could not apply online learning 100%, so blended learning is applied. The blended learning system is a new thing in the Medical Profession Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran, and no research describes it yet. The purpose of this study was to find out a description of the adaptation of blended learning during the COVID-19 pandemic based on students’ perceptions.
Methods: This study used a closed “yes/no” questionnaire. Twenty-one questions prepared following blended learning guides were distributed randomly (simple random sampling) to Medical Profession Study Program students’ (class of 2020 and 2021) at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran, from December 2021 to January 2022 (n=261). Students who do not participate in the blended learning system will be excluded from the study. Meanwhile, active students from the class of the 2020-2021 period who are willing to be respondents will be included.
Results: The results showed that most students were aware of the adaption of blended learning (yes > 50%). The highest percentage of "yes" answers was the question about students` awareness of virtual face-to-face learning activities (Virtual Synchronous) (98.95%). Meanwhile, the lowest percentage of "yes" answers was the question about the students` perceptions regarding the application of a structured schedule (during working hours) (38.31%).
Conclusions: Blended learning during the COVID-19 pandemic from the students’ point of view is already per the decree and guidebooks. The structured schedule experienced by the students was not fully implemented during working hours.
