| dc.description.abstract | This study is conducted using a two-stage empirical methodology to examine the impact of decentralization on economic growth by introducing government efficiency as explanatory variable in the growth model. Firstly, the measurement of government efficiency uses data envelopment analysis to calculate the technical efficiency scores from 19 local governments in West Sumatra. Secondly, the efficiency score is regressed in the panel data analysis to analyze the impact of fiscal decentralization and government efficiency on regional growth from 2011 to 2014. This study found that fiscal decentralization has a positive impact on regional growth in West Sumatra. Adding government efficiency to the model as an explanatory variable improves the model’s reliability for explaining the variability of the dependent variable growth.
