Abstract
ABSTRACT
This thesis is titled “Studiklub Teater Bandung (STB) as the Oldest Modern Theatre Group which still Exists on Stage 1958-2009”. This thesis discusses one of the modern theatre groups in Indonesia which was established in 1958. STB, since its presence, had experienced a long journey until now it still exists on stage. STB succeed to get through difficulties which were experienced by theatre groups such as funding difficulties, lack of audiences, pressure from the communist party until it was able to adapt with various politicals policies from the Indonesian government.
The method used in this thesis is Historical methods that consist of heuristics, critics, interpretation, and historiography. The theory and concept used in this thesis are the concept of culture, especially modern art theatre.
The results of this study research can be concluded that Studiklub Teater Bandung (STB) is the oldest modern theatre group in Indonesia which still exists. The fact was obtained from its long journey since its first stage in 1958 until at least 2009, where STB was recorded in MURI as the oldest modern theatre group in Indonesia which still exists on stage. STB had also gone through some situation in the dynamics of Indonesia theatre from the New Order until Reformation. Some difficulties which are often experienced by the theatre groups are funding difficulties, no successors, political situation but it was able to be gone through by STB.

ABSTRAK
Skripsi ini berjudul Studiklub Teater Bandung (STB) Sebagai Kelompok Teater Modern Tertua di Indonesia yang Masih Eksis Pentas 1958 – 2009. Skripsi ini membicarakan mengenai salah satu kelompok teater modern di Indonesia yang mulai terbentuk pada tahun 1958. STB sejak kemunculannya sudah mengalami perjalanan panjang hingga sampai sekarang masih eksis berpentas. STB berhasil melewati berbagai kesulitan yang dialami oleh kelompok teater lainya seperti, kesulitan dana, kurangnya jumlah penonton, desakkan dari partai komunis, hingga mampu beradaptasi dari berbagai kebijakan politik oleh pemerintah Indonesia.
Metode yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah metode Sejarah, terdiri dari heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Konsep dan teori yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah konsep mengenai kebudayaan khususnya tentang seni teater modern.
Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Studiklub Teater Bandung (STB) merupakan kelompok teater modern tertua di Indonesia yang masih eksis pentas. Fakta itu diperoleh dari perjalanan panjang sejak pertama pentas tahun 1958 sampai pada setidaknya tahun 2009 dimana penlitian ini berakhir sebab STB secara tercatat dalam rekok MURI sebagai kelompok teater modern tertua di Indonesia yang masih eksis pentas. STB juga sudah melalu berbagai situasi dinamika teater Indonesia dari zaman orba hingga reformasi. Berbagai masalah yang sering ditemukan oleh kelompok teater lain seperti kesulitan keuangan, tidak adanya penerus, situasi politik di Indonesia yang sempat panas telah berhasil mereka lewati.
