dc.description.abstract	ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan representasi Presiden Joko Widodo dalam surat kabar versi online Australia, Sydney Morning Herald, melalui pemberitaan pada periode 2014 – 2016. Analisis wacana kritis dengan bantuan linguistik korpus (Corpus-Assisted Critical Discourse Analysis) yang menggabungkan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis kompilasi korpus dengan menerapkan teknik analitis linguistik korpus seperti frekuensi, kata kunci (keyword), klaster, kolokasi, dan konkordansi. Analisis kuantitatif ini dilengkapi analisis kualitatif untuk memberikan interpretasi yang bermakna dari pola bahasa yang digunakan dalam data. Fitur linguistik yang dominan muncul dalam analisis kuantitatif memberikan petunjuk bentuk leksikal yang dominan. Identifikasi bentuk leksikal yang dominan diklasifikasi menurut prosodi semantiknya: positif, negatif, atau netral. Analisis kualitatif dengan fokus pada bentuk leksikon dilakukan terhadap konkordansi dengan konteks yang lebih luas sehingga dapat terungkap dalam konteks bagaimana sosok Jokowi direpresentasikan secara positif atau negatif. Konteks tersebut berupa topik berita atau periode pemberitaan yang meliputi periode pemilihan presiden 2014, kasus vonis hukuman mati warga negara Australia (Bali Duo), kisruh antara KPK dan tersangka Jenderal Polisi Budi Gunawan, penangkapan dan penembakan aktivis Papua Merdeka, pemilihan kepala daerah DKI dan salah satu calonnya yang diduga menista agama (Ahok), dan kunjungan antarkepala negara (Indonesia-Australia). Karena penelitian ini menggunakan teori analisis wacana kritis van Dijk, data dianalisis berdasarkan analisis sosial, teks yang meliputi leksikal dan koherensi, serta kognisi sosial. Dari analisis data ditemukan bahwa Presiden Joko Widodo direpresentasikan sebagai sosok yang lebih terkenal dengan nama Jokowi. Dalam pemberitaan Sydney Morning Herald periode 2014 -2016 Jokowi direpresentasikan secara berbeda-beda. Dalam konteks tertentu, Jokowi direpresentasikan sebagai sosok yang positif, tetapi dalam konteks yang lain beliau direpresentasikan secara negatif. Ketidakkonsistenan tersebut mengungkapkan keberpihakan SMH yang dilatar belakangi ideologi media tersebut. Kata kunci: representasi, linguistik korpus, analisis wacana kritis, Jokowi ABSTRACT This study aims to reveal the representation of President Joko Widodo in the Australian online newspaper, Sydney Morning Herald, through the news in the period of 2014 - 2016. The critical discourse analysis assisted by corpus linguistic (Corpus Assisted Critical Discourse Analysis) combining quantitative and qualitative approaches is used to analyze corpus compilations by applying analytical techniques of corpus linguistic such as frequency, keyword, cluster, collocation, and concordance. The quantitative analysis was accompanied by qualitative analysis to provide a meaningful interpretation of the language patterns used in the data. The linguistic features that dominantly appear in quantitative analysis provide a hint of the dominant lexical form. The identification of the dominant lexical form is classified according to its semantic prosodies: positive, negative, or neutral. Qualitative analysis with a focus on the lexicon form is done on the concordance with the broader context so it can be revealed in the context of how Jokowi`s figure is represented positively or negatively. The context consists of news topics or periods of news covering the period of 2014 presidential election, the death sentence case of an Australian citizen (Bali Duo), the chaos between the KPK and Police General Budi Gunawan suspects, the arrest and shooting of Papuan Merdeka activists, the election of the head of DKI Jakarta and one of his candidates who was allegedly defamed the religion (Ahok), and mutual visits of state leaders (Indonesia-Australia). Because this study uses the theory of van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis, the data are analyzed based on social analysis, the text covering lexical and coherence, and social cognition. From the data analysis it was found that President Joko Widodo represented as a figure who is more famous by the name Jokowi. In the news of the Sydney Morning Herald period 2014 -2016 Jokowi was represented differently. In certain contexts, Jokowi was represented positively, but in another context he was represented negatively. The inconsistency reveals SMH`s alignment with the background of the media ideology.
