ZONASI KAWASAN PERTAMBANGAN MINERAL BUKAN LOGAM DAN BATUAN DENGAN METODA ANALISIS SPASIAL UNTUK MENDUKUNG PENGEMBANGAN WILAYAH KABUPATEN KULON PROGO D.I.YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Mineral
resources are non-renewable resources that have characteristics, either
quantity, quality or localities. The Kulon Progo Regency has a potential of
various minerals, which has big enough
resources, particularly non-metallic minerals and rocks (134 locations). The
mineral potentials have not been exploited optimally yet. This is indicated by
the gross regional domestic product with a small contribution (0.94%).
In the frame
work of exploiting the resources, a mining zonation is absolutely determined by
implementing a spatial analysis associated with some related parameters, so
that its exploitation has no an overlap with other sectors. The parameters
include regional geology, topography, hazard and landslide, hydrology, landuse,
infrastructure and protected area.
Results of the
spatial analysis show that the zonal area for mining is 8,403.99 ha or 66.17%
of the total area. The location for the mining activities consists of 82 areas.
The distribution of quartz sand and ornamental igneous rocks needs a special
attention because of the areas that have restricted factors.
The development
for the mining activities in the areas must consider aspects of the good mining
practices including the environmental aspect. The use of the mineral resources
is expected to be able to support the regional development and to contribute
the community and regional economy. Each mining activity must have a legal
mining license and an mining obligation as stated by the mining regulation.
Typology of the
area of Kulon Progo Regency according to the gross regional domestic product
shows the presence of specialization of the location for mining activity
compared to other regencies. However, this regency has a development rate that
is relatively slow. Thus, this phenomenon indicates no opportunity to develop
in the future. This shows that all the mining activities are not optimal yet,
even some have no mining licenses.
Therefore, the mining sector provides no significant contribution for
the regional economy. Ironically, the area has the potential of various
minerals that have been exploited. By exploiting
the mineral resources properly, it is expected that it can provide a
significant contribution for the regional economy
