dc.description.abstract	This dissertation is entitled " Riau Malay Lexical Retention, Innovation, And Diffusion In Kampar District: Geolinguistic Study". The research method used is a qualitative method that describes descriptive data. Data collection methods and techniques used are refer to the methods of proficiency and record techniques. The analytical methods and techniques used are the matching method and the comparative relationship technique. This research was conducted at nine observation points in Kampar District. Samples of informants at each point of observation amounted to one person. The research instrument used for the interview was a list of questions containing 441 questions. Based on the overall analysis of the data that the Malay Malay language lexical retention in Kampar District which experienced a form of lexical innovation was 164 gloss with 390 variants, which consisted of full lexical innovation with 66 gloss with 162 variants while maintaining the lexical origin of 66 gloss 66 variant and innovative lexical 66 glos 96 variants. Furthermore, as many as 85 phonetic innovations with 173 variants by maintaining the lexical origin of 85 glos 85 variants and innovative lexical 85 glos 88 variants, and meaning innovations as many as 6 glos with 6 variants by maintaining the original lexical 2 and innovative lexical 4. The original lexical pemertahan looks as much , 66 glossos 66 variants on full lexical innovation, 85 glossaries 85 variants on phonetic innovation, and 2 glossos on meaning innovation. This, it seems, is that this lexical origin only retains its existing form. So this is called passive defense. Furthermore, innovative lexical defense holds 66 glossos 96 variants in full lexical innovation, 85 glossos 88 variants in phonetic innovation, and innovative lexical 4 meaning innovations. This, it seems that this innovative lexical, maintains by adding new elements called innovative elements. So this is called active detention. In total, this study contained 220 maps. The map that contains innovative variants in Riau Malay is only 158 maps. The remaining 62 maps contain variations in geographical diffusion. Based on the observation point, the result of data phenomenon in the field, that which often experiences diffusion is the observation point (1), (2), (3), (8) and geographically, diffusion in the Malay language of Riau moves from west to east, it appears on the phenomenon of data in the field that, gradual geographical distribution at the point of observation, the spread starts from the point of observation (1), gradually to the point of observation (2), gradually to the point of observation (3), and finally the distribution directly to the point of observation (8) , which is observed and seen by distribution based on the scale of the map direction. The observation points (1), (2), (3) are in the westward position while the observation point (8) is in the eastward position.
