dc.description.abstract | Information on genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationship among red pepper genotypes is very essential for selecting suitable parental in crossing as well as for managing plant genetic resources. The objectives of the experiment were to (i) obtain genetic diversity of 45 red pepper genotypes based on agro-morphological traits and Simple Sequence Repeats (SSRs) markers; (ii) obtain the potential parent for crossing; and (iii) obtain the potential parent that supposed to be resistant to Colletotrichum capsici based on both laboratory test and EST-SSRs markers. The results showed that the genetic diversity of 45 red pepper genotypes assessed by agro-morphological and SSRs markers was broad. A distant genetic relationships based on agro-morphological marker was genotype #26 (LEMBANG-1) from BALITSA and genotype #19 (0735-5608-1) the introduced genotype from Taiwan. Meanwhile based on SSRs marker, genotype #11 (0735-7641-B) and #28 (0735-5687-1) were introduced from Taiwan, had a distant genetic relationships. There were 15 genotypes have supposed to be resistant to Colletotrichum capsici based on laboratory test and EST-SSRs markers: genotype #4 (PERISAI), #5 (B04), #8 (TJ-2x3), #10 (UNPAD 4), #11(0735-7641-B), #16 (0735-5670-1), #18 (UNPAD 5), #23 (3), #26 (LEMBANG-1), #27 (0735-5687-1), #29 (CIKO), #33(0735-5646-1), #40 (0737-7732-B), #43 (3 x LB-1), and #45 (K02), these genotypes are a potential parent for hibridization. Combination of parental supposed for developing a superior genotype are #26 (LEMBANG-1), #19 (0735-5608-1), #11 (0735-7641-B), and #28 (0735-5687-1) with 15 genotypes which are to be resistant to Colletotrichum capsici based on both laboratory test and EST-SSRs markers. | |
