dc.description.abstractBackground: Drug usage in Indonesia has increases approximately 1,5 times from 2015 to 2021 based on National Narcotics Agency (Badan Narkotika Nasional). The study objectives was finding characteristics and profile of drug users to describe their habitual tendency of using drugs which could be assessed for drug user related programs. Methods: The study design was a descriptive study. Data collected with qualitative interview and processed with quantitative method. In March 2023, 16 out of 17 patients from drug rehabilitation program in West Java Mental Hospital (Rumah Sakit Jiwa Provinsi Jawa Barat) were all included as study subjects with Total Sampling method. The data were presented in tables. Results: Out of 16 subjects, 6 subjects were using opioid tramadol. Most of the subjects were aged around 15-24 years old and had been using drugs for around 5-10 years. While most subjects were getting drugs from a drug dealer, new methods for drug transaction were present such as getting it from social media and roadside stall. Rehabilitation in prison was not effective. Conclusion: There were changes in the drug trend from previous data which was amphetamine being the mostly used by drug rehabilitation patients to opioid. Newest method to obtain drugs espescially synthetic cannabinoid which through social media needed more attention to be controlled. Rehabilitation program in prison was not effective based on previous study and subject’s testimonies.
