dc.description.abstractABSTRAK Skripsi ini berjudul “Perkembangan Transportasi Darat di Sukabumi, pengaruhnya terhadap kehidupan Sosial Ekonomi dan perkembangan kota 881-1942†. Skripsi ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui perkembangan transportasi darat di Sukabumi pada tahun 1881-1942, pengaruhnya terhadap kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat dan terbentuknya Sukabumi menjadi sebuah kota. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian skripsi ini adalah metode sejarah yang terdiri dari empat tahapan, yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi.Keempatnya merupakan suatu kesatuan yang tak dapat dipisahkan. Hasil penelitian enunjukkan bahwa pembangunan transportasi darat di Sukabumi dilatarbelakangi dari adanya kepentingan ekonomi, yaitu meningkatnya sektor-sektor perkebunan kopi pemerintah pada tahun 1870. Pada waktu bersamaan, terdapat juga para pengusaha swasta yang membuka lahan perkebunan teh. Setelah banyak berdirinya perkebunan di Sukabumi, mereka menuntut adanya saranatransportasi yang baik, maka pada tahun 1881 dibangunlah jaringan transportasi kereta api. keberadaan sarana transportasi ini sangat dirasakan manfaatnya untuk akses setiap orang terutama masyarakat pribumi, antara lain mendukung laju pergerakan manusia, percepatan ekonomi dan perkembangan kota. ABSTRACT This thesis is entitled the development of land transporationt and its impact on socioeconomic life and impact on the town development in Sukabumi from 188 to 1942. The purpose of this thesis is to find the development of land transportation in Sukabumi from 1881 to 1942 and how it made impact to the socioeconomic life of the people and to the growth of Sukabumi as a town. The method employed in this thesis research is historical method, which comprises four steps: heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The four elements are a unity that cannot be separated.The results shows that the construction of land transportation in Sukabumi is forced economic interest,which is the growth of government coffee in 1870 and, at the same time, private individuals ware also setting up tea plantations. After setting upnumerous plantations in Sukabumi, they demanded reliable transportation facilities. So in 1881 railroad network was established. The transportation facility brought considerable advantage to public accessibility, especially to the local inhabitants, such is in increasing human mobility, economic acceleration, and town development.
