Item EFFECT OF GEDI (ABELMOSCHUS MANIHOT L.) LEAVES INFUSION 9%, 18%, AND 27% ON BLOOD HDL LEVEL IN HYPERLIPDEMIA-INDUCED RATS(2012-08-09) NURIDAYU BINTI SEDEK; Tidak ada Data Dosen; Tidak ada Data DosenGedi (Abelmoschus manihot L.) is a plant which can be found in tropical country. The leaves are one of the important ingredients in Manado porridge especially in tinutuan porridge. However, not much research has been done to investigate the potency of Gedi leaves. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of Gedi leaves in increasing blood HDL level. This is a laboratory experimental research using 30 Wistar rats which is then divided into 5 groups. All groups except the control negative group were induced with high fat diet exogenously and endogenously for 2 weeks. 3 groups were then fed with Gedi leaves infusion with the infusion concentration of 9%, 18% and 27% for another 2 weeks. The rats underwent blood HDL level testing before and after the treatment. The results of this research are statistically tested by methods of One Way ANOVA. The mean difference between pretest and post-test in control groups, control positive and negative is 1.47, 14.49 respectively. It shows a decline about 2.60% and 20.06% in these group. In group 3 that is given Gedi leaves infusion 9% the mean difference is 19.42. This shows that the blood HDL level decreases 25.9%.In group 4, infusion 18%, the mean difference of this group is 22.99. There is 30.2% decrease of HDL level. For group 5, infusion 27%, the mean difference in this group is 14.32; it shows that there is 20.52% decrease of HDL level in rats. As a conclusion, Gedi leaves infusion has no effect in increasing blood HDL level; in fact it decreases the HDL level.
