Abstract
Daun sirsak dengan nama latin Annona muricata L. telah banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat di beberapa negara salah satunya adalah penyakit kanker. Penelitian lebih lanjut yang mengemukakan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun sirsak memiliki aktivitas antikanker yang pengujiannya dilakukan secara in vivo menggunakan Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Telaah artikel ini terfokus pada pembahasan mengenai aktivitas antikanker dari daun sirsak menggunakan Brine Shrimp Lethaliti Test (BSLT). Brine Shrimp Lethality Test merupakan suatu metode uji toksisitas yang digunakan sebagai skrining awal senyawa bioaktif yang bersifat toksik dari bahan alam. Metode ini dipilih karena sering dimanfaatkan untuk skrining senyawa antikanker yang hasil uji toksisitasnya telah terbukti memiliki korelasi dengan daya sitotoksik senyawa antikanker. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa ekstrak memiliki efek toksik terhadap larva Artemia salina setelah papamran selama 24 jam dengan nilai LC50 sebesar 70µg/mL.
Sour sop leaves with binominal name Annona muricata L. had been used by people in some countries such as cancer. Research that stated that ethanol extract of sour sop leaves has anticancer activity through in vivo research using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). This article is focusing on the anticancer activity from sour sop leaves using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test(BSLT). Brine Shrimp Lethality Test is a method to evaluate the toxicity that was used as prescreening process of toxic bioactive compound from nature. this method was chosen because it is often used for anticancer compound screening and the resulting toxicity that were proven to had correlation with cytotoxic potency of anticancer compound. the result of the research concluded that extract of sour sop has toxic effect against Artemia salina larva after 24 exposure with LC50 value 70µg/mL.Keywords: Leaves of soursop, Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT), Toxicity
