Item Prognostic Value of Using a Chest Tube With Water-Sealed Drainage Compared To Heimlich Valve In Malignant Plura Effusion at RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin, Bandung(2023-04-06) FAKHRIEL MUHAMMAD HAMDANI; Tidak ada Data Dosen; Tidak ada Data DosenChest tube removes excess fluid or air in the chest cavity and plays a role in pleural drainage. Pleural drainage is divided into two types, namely water-sealed drainage and Heimlich valve. Both methods have their own benefits and disadvantages. This study aims to compare the characteristics of changes in the grading of pleural effusion, duration of chest tube insertion, and length of hospitalization for using both methods of chest tube in malignant pleural effusion. This research is a prospective observational study in patients treated in Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung during November 2021 – April 2022. The total sample obtained was 52 patients. In this study, it was found that there was no difference in the duration of chest tube insertion and length of stay between both methods. The grading of effusion was also insignificant between the two groups. This study concluded that there was no significant difference between both pleural drainage methods in patients with malignant pleural effusion who underwent chest tube procedures.
